The Phoenix Consort came together in 2001, on the borders of Somerset and Wiltshire around Frome and Warminster, under our Musical Director, Pauline Ward.
We are a group of musicians who love to sing and entertain, with a wide and always growing repertoire. We sing sacred and secular music, sometimes a capella and sometimes accompanied, from medieval times to the twenty-first century.
Our lively concerts include madrigals, spirituals, folk songs, anthems, motets and present day classics and pop. Our music comes from all over the world. We usually include instrumental music: piano, flute, clarinet, ‘cello, guitar, sometimes medieval instruments or even a hurdy-gurdy, on their own or in combination to accompany the singers.
