Bernard Wight and Julian Scott created this group to fulfil a shared dream: to play big band music but with a smaller line-up. Band arrangements have been skilfully written, and experienced local musicians recruited, to make sure a rich full-throated sound is achieved for this “Little Big Band”.
The band is built round six horns: three saxes and three trumpets. Piano, bass and drums form the rhythm section. And to complete the lineup, we have two fine vocalists, Adrienne Hale and Julian Scott. With its repertoire of foot tapping classics and swinging style, this versatile band can provide a very varied programme for dancing. The repertoire includes the music of Count Basie Tommy Dorsey Duke Ellington Glenn Miller Sammy Nestico etc. the songs of George Gershwin Lorenz Hart Jerome Kern Cole Porter & more.
