David Caswell

A brilliant South American inspired guitarist, David Caswell will also be joining our rank. David enjoys a a varied career as performer, teacher and researcher into the area of Latin American guitar music.
His formal studies were at the Royal College of Music with professors Charles Ramirez and Patrick Bashford. He made his international debut in Buenos Aires in 1997, and has subsequently made many visits to Argentina, where he has appeared both on television and radio. In 1999 he was invited to play in Caracas, joining friends for a concert in the Teresa Carreno. His interest in Cuban music culminated in a visit to Havana in 2006, where he was lucky to meet with the maestro Nico Rojas.
The programme this afternoon will include music from all three of these countries, along with music from Paraguay and Peru. It is hoped that the programme will show the wealth and variety of popular music to be found in Latin America, and the significant role that the guitar plays in the culture of the South American continent. He is quite simply a fantastic performer, and not to be missed!
