“A Quest” Did you meet a Rabbit in search of a
life or sheep near the White Horse recently?”
The Opening Event will kick start the Westbury Music and Arts
Festival 2011. The work on display this year contrasts quests
of life in Westbury and the Gambia. A participatory Arts Project
sponsored by Matravers School and supported by funding
from an Innovation Grant from the Schools Network created
new views of Westbury through interaction with local people,
artist Jill Carter and storytelling. The work is displayed through
photographs, books, films, music, books and a blog.

The Gambia Photographic work displays Gambian children’s
views of their lives and what they hold important. Matravers
School teachers ran a workshop when they were in the Gambia
on documentary photography using disposable cameras. This
exhibition celebrates the wonderful work the children produced.
There will be African Drumming as well as refreshments as a
background to the exhibitions. We look forward to seeing you
there to meet the artist and students.
